Welcome to the Boston Tribe

Welcome to the Boston Tribe for University of Michigan alumni, fans, and friends.

The University of Michigan Club of Greater Boston wants to start building a stronger community where members and friends can communicate with each other rather than just the club owning the main means of communication with the members.

After a review of the site, it looks like it would be a great way for alumni members to communicate amongst themselves, and possibly start to form their own events and discussions. It provides functionality to communicate among members, start discussion groups, and broadcast events. We want this to be a community where people feel a part of something bigger and can express themselves and show their Michigan pride!

Do not be shy. Please take this opportunity to post an event that you are involved with (does not have to be club related), a job opening, a listing for a car for sale, anything… By posting content you are improving our community.

Michigan Glee Club: Needs some help

The Michigan Men's Glee Club has been invited to participate in Harvard's Intercollegiate Male Vocal Competition this year. As a result, they will be coming to Boston the weekend of March 12th - 14th. As it is a student organization with a tight budget, they are asking for assistance in housing while on their tour. They traditionally find that this benefits both alumni and students: students enjoy discovering some of the University's past (whether it be two or twenty years ago), and alumni enjoy being caught up on campus activity and student life. They are interested in finding housing for their members on one or both nights (Friday March 12th, Saturday March 13th). The Men's Glee Club will be performing Saturday, March 13th. Anyone who is interested in housing one or more members should contact Matt Martin at mznblu@comcast.net or 603-422-0838 for more details.

Best places to go in Boston

People always say I know the best places to go in Boston, but that's because I always ask :)

So... where do you think some of the best places to go are, and some of the best things to do?

One of my favorite (cuz I live in Southie) is to explore the harbor. When was the last time you went to the harbor? No... the nice parts of the harbor (there are a couple)...
a) Castle Island in South Boston... great walkway, lots of water views, history... (parking :)
b) More of a summer thing, but take the water shuttle from near the aquarium to George's island... bring a picnic. Something like $8/person for a shuttle there and back (30-40 minutes each way) crusing in the harbor, then an old fort to explore, lots of places to sun... All around one of the best places to go in Boston... Also once you get to George's, you can take mini shuttles to the smaller islands. Few people go to the small islands... you could have one all to yourself.

Anyways, there's a couple from me. What are your favorite places?

Does anybody have ideas about any Community Activities that we could volunteer as a club to do?
